Yamaha: the most reliable motorcycles

The American online publication Consumer Reports conducted a traditional survey of its subscribers, the topic of which was the reliability of motorcycles. The leader of the rating once again was the products of the Japanese brand Yamaha.

However, in order to make the customer satisfied, high quality parts and assembly are not enough. Despite the fact that motorcycles of the American brand Victory were inferior to competing products from Yamaha in terms of the absence of breakdowns, Victory buyers are most satisfied with their motorcycles. How is this possible? This was due to the high quality of customer service provided by Victory dealers.

As a result, 80% of Victory owners would buy a motorcycle from this brand again. For comparison: this figure is 72% for Harley-Davidson motorcycles (2nd place), 70% for Honda (3rd place).

Thus, buyer comfort is one of the most important factors affecting the saleability of two-wheelers. Interestingly, Ducati, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Triumph were ranked at the bottom of Consumer Reports' customer satisfaction rankings.

However, let's return to reliability. Yamaha is in first place, followed by Suzuki, Honda and Kawasaki. Native to the American market, Victory and Harley-Davidson are in the middle of the list, while European brands Triumph, Ducati and BMW are at the bottom. Oddly enough, Can-Am products became an outstander; Spyder customers encountered breakdowns twice as often as Yamaha customers.

Some more statistics. Cruisers had breakdowns less often than motorcycles of other classes. Next in descending order of reliability are enduro, classic motorcycles, “tourists”, sports tourers and sportbikes. 15% of American-style motorcycle owners and 23% of sports motorcycle owners experienced equipment failure.
